Getting Started with SkipCast

  1. Open SkipCast and tap the search icon to discover podcasts by category or name.
  2. Preview any episode with a single tap—no subscription needed.
  3. Subscribe to shows you love by tapping the subscribe button.
  4. Episodes appear automatically in your feed. Download for offline listening or stream on the go.
  5. Tap an episode to start playing. Use the audio effects button to enable Trim Silence, Smoothie, or EQ.
  6. Create custom playlists or let SkipCast manage a single auto-updated queue for you.

Using Audio Effects

  1. While playing an episode, tap the Effects button (equalizer icon).
  2. Trim Silence: Toggle on to automatically skip silent sections at 2–3× speed. Great for interview shows with long pauses.
  3. Smoothie (Dynamics): Enable volume leveling to even out quiet and loud moments—perfect for noisy environments.
  4. Bass & Treble Boost: Adjust EQ to match your headphones or listening preference.
  5. Effects are saved per-podcast, so your preferences stick for future episodes.

Support Questions & Answers

How do I set up Skip Intro for a podcast?

While viewing a podcast's episode list, tap the settings icon and set the Skip Intro seconds. SkipCast will remember this and automatically jump ahead every time you play a new episode from that show.

Can I download episodes for offline listening?

Yes! Tap the download button on any episode, or enable auto-download in a podcast's settings to grab new episodes automatically.

How does Trim Silence work?

Trim Silence detects quiet sections and plays them at 2–3× speed, seamlessly returning to normal speed when audio resumes. It can reduce total listen time by 20–30% without cutting content.

Where are downloaded episodes stored?

Episodes are saved in SkipCast's secure app storage on your device. You can delete them anytime from the episode detail screen to free up space.

Does SkipCast support video podcasts?

Yes. Video podcasts stream and download just like audio. Playback controls and effects work the same way.

Can I use SkipCast with CarPlay?

SkipCast supports background audio playback and integrates with iOS media controls. Full CarPlay support is coming in a future update.

How do I create a custom playlist?

Tap the playlist icon on the main screen, create a new playlist, then add episodes by tapping the three-dot menu on any episode and selecting Add to Playlist.

Troubleshooting Guide

Episodes won't download

  • Check your internet connection and ensure you're not in Low Data Mode.
  • Verify you have enough storage space on your device.
  • Try deleting and re-adding the podcast if the feed URL has changed.

Playback is choppy or stuttering

  • If streaming, ensure you have a stable internet connection.
  • Try downloading the episode for offline playback instead of streaming.
  • Disable audio effects temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

Audio effects aren't working

  • Ensure audio effects are enabled in the app settings.
  • Effects are applied per-podcast\u2014check that they're toggled on for that specific show.
  • Restart playback after enabling effects for them to take effect.

Can't find a specific podcast

  • Try searching for the podcast's exact name or the host's name.
  • Browse by category if you're not sure of the exact title.
  • Some podcasts may not be available in Apple's directory. Try adding the RSS feed URL directly.
